Additionally, we assessed its mouthfeel by determining its thickness or richness. Lastly, we analyzed the tea's vegetal flavor, which is a characteristic shared among all types of matcha.

Nødvendigt tesæt

To achieve the optimal results when preparing the delightful Japanese Matcha Tea Osada Okumidori, it is important to have a few essential utensils at your disposal. These accessories include:

  • A Matcha Bowl: Also known as a "chawan," a matcha bowl is a specially designed bowl with a wide opening and a flat bottom. The bowl's shape allows the whisk to move around freely and helps create a smooth, creamy froth.
  • A Bamboo Whisk: Also referred to as a "chasen," the bamboo whisk is a traditional tool used for preparing matcha tea. Its delicate bristles help to break up any clumps of matcha powder and create a frothy, creamy texture.
  • A Chashaku: A chashaku is a small, bamboo scoop used to measure the perfect amount of matcha powder for each serving. This utensil is especially important as it ensures that the tea is not too weak or too strong.
  • A Sifter: Sifting the matcha powder before whisking is a crucial step in the preparation process. A sifter helps to remove any clumps or impurities in the matcha powder, resulting in a smoother and more consistent cup of tea.

osada tea farm in japan

Produktions- og landmandssted

Information om gården

For generations, the Osada family has been growing tea in Shizuoka, and over time, they have expanded their small, family-owned tea farm into a medium-sized enterprise. Their success has brought employment opportunities to many in the local area.

Despite increasing their tea production, the Osadas have remained committed to maintaining their high quality standards. They achieve this by collaborating with small-scale producers in the mountains. This partnership allows them to combine the meticulous care of a small tea field with the knowledge and resources of a larger operation.

To improve quality further, they relocated their production facility to the mountains, closer to the source of their tea.

Oprindeligt fra Shizuoka

Japan

As the name would suggest, the Japanese Matcha Tea Osada Okumidori is made from the Okumidori cultivar. Based on customer feedback, this has been the most popular cultivar for matcha teas at Nio.

  • Okumidori

The Okumidori tea cultivar is highly regarded for its ability to produce teas that are smoother and fuller-bodied. While it is often combined with other tea varieties to balance out any bitterness, it is also frequently used on its own. Although it is a challenging cultivar to work with, the end result is well worth it, as seen in the case of the Okumidori Matcha Osada, which boasts a finish that is completely free of bitterness.
